In my mind I make an angel
of a man who has his demons.
The darkness of his eyes upon me
is the sun through thunderheads.
He flashes red and white hot lightning
as his smile strikes my soul.
In my body I await the touch
of the hands that will heal its burning.
They come upon me as gentle waves
stroking the shore under soft,
sunset-streaked clouds of bronze.
In my heart I surrender to him,
though in my mind I know it is insanity.
I am beneath him, for he is in heaven,
and he brings it inside me.
He loves my soul from my body
and I am forever lost in him.
